The South West Peninsular is a haven of things to do. Whether you wish for a quiet break with some beautiful scenery, long quiet walks, or a real family holiday with clean beaches for swimming and  many varied theme parks for the children, the South West has it all for your enjoyment!

Carminowe View looks over the historic 'Carminowe valley' much of it National Trust land, which nestles within the South arm of the famous 'Loe Pool'. There are both interesting and 'worth while' walks right from the front door of this lovely old cottage. The area is a true haven for the serious wildlife or landscape photographer as the possibilities for that one illusive photograph is always just around the next corner!

Local Walks:   There are many walks in this fascinating area, whether on the coastal path or in the countryside you can take your choice right from the front door. Many have local Cornish Pubs on the route for refreshment as you go.

Lands End:      The most Western point of the UK mainland, you can see the famous 'Longships Light House' marking the safe passage for ships that have navigated this area for centuries. On a clear day the Scilly Islands are clear to be seen and if the conditions are very good even the Seven Stones Light Ship marking the reef where the supertanker 'Torry Canyon' came to grief spilling her cargo of oil across the South West's beaches, can be clearly seen on the horizon. There is now a theme park on the peninsular that is well worth a visit. However, allow a full day as there is plenty to see and plenty to interest the Children.

Flambards Experience:    More than just a Theme Park! Established nearly 30 years ago as the 'Cornwall Aircraft Park' the Flambards Experience is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the South West. Not only does the Theme Park host the best thrill rides, but also the 'Victorian Village' and the 'Britain in Blitz' are a fascinating indoor experience.

National Seal Sanctuary, Gweek:     The National Seal Sanctuary is set in the picturesque Helford Estuary, by the beautiful village of Gweek. The Sanctuary is a busy rescue centre, and also has resident Grey Seals, Common Seals, Californian and Patagonian Sea Lions, Goats, Ponies and Otters. A Great day out with plenty to interest all the family.

National Maritime Museum, Falmouth:   Housed in an award winning building on the Falmouth Harbour-side, the National Maritime Museum transports you into the world of small boats and Cornish Maritime History. An interesting and worth while day out.

The Eden Project:     More than just a 'Green Theme Park' Eden is about connecting plants, people and places. It is a living demonstration of regeneration and it aims to reconnect people with their environments both locally and globally. They don't profess to have all the answers and have no wish to tell others what to think; what they do is invite people to explore their world afresh.

The National Trust:     South West Cornwall has many National Trust sites many of which are long established gardens, indeed the beautiful walk through unbroken countryside down to the famous 'Loo Pool' is through National Trust land. There are too many NT items to visit for us to list here, but do click on the header to go direct to the NT Website.

Tate Modern St Ives:     This is a part of the Tate Gallery family and has been open here in St Ives for many years. Being specially designed and built for the Tate family of Galleries, it is ideal for special exhibitions and for general viewing of the excellent and wide ranging pictures that will be a joy to all discerning art lovers.  Well worth a visit.
